1、 Home vs. Business: Matching on Demand is Key
(1) Home Charging Station: Accurately Adapting to Needs
Taking the common 7kW independent household pile as an example, it can be directly connected to the public power grid of residential buildings without the need to install an independent transformer. If living in a remote self built house without grid access, a 50kVA transformer can be selected to meet the needs of one 22kW charging station and household load.
(2) Commercial charging stations: high-power demand
The 60-240kW fast charging pile has strict requirements for transformers, and the configuration logic varies greatly in different scenarios:
Community charging station (10 60kW piles): 800kVA transformers can provide more abundant capacity, adapt to higher simultaneous coefficients, accommodate auxiliary loads, ensure that the transformers operate in an efficient load rate range (about 60% -75%), and leave space for possible future capacity expansion (increasing the number of piles or single pile power). This is a safer, more flexible, and more commonly used solution.
High speed service area: Choose a 1000kVA transformer, and if there are expansion plans in the future, it is recommended to choose a 1250kVA transformer. The high-speed service area is the core energy replenishment node for long-distance travel of new energy vehicles. During peak periods such as holidays, vehicles are charged centrally to ensure the reliability of charging and avoid "power outages" or "speed drops" during peak hours.
2、 These 'pitfalls' will cost you 30% more!
Insufficient capacity: This can lead to frequent tripping, failure to meet power factor standards, and additional electricity bills. The six-month maintenance cost may exceed 100000 yuan.
Neglecting heat dissipation: In summer, the heat dissipation efficiency of dry-type transformers decreases by 30%, requiring frequent shutdowns and daily revenue losses exceeding 2000 yuan; Oil immersed systems rely more on oil circulation for heat dissipation.
Lack of safety design: Transformers with triple protection of overload, over temperature, and short circuit must be selected to cut off faults within 0.1 seconds.
Choosing the right transformer makes charging more worry free! Suitable for small capacity at home, compatible with large power for commercial use, avoiding the pitfalls of capacity, heat dissipation, and safety, in order to make charging stations efficient and cost-effective.
